Diagram of dynamic QR routing: one printed code whose scans are routed by rules. An iPhone scan follows the Device rule to the App Store, a morning scan follows the Schedule rule to the breakfast menu, an A/B split sends half of scans to each variant, and a scan that matches nothing lands on the always-on fallback.

Routing rules

The badge was printed weeks ago. It still knows what day it is.

One conference badge, printed before anyone knew the running order. 8 rules decide where each scan goes · by day, by device, by language, by where the person is standing.

The scan

This scan

Android · Madrid · Español · scan #1 · Tue, Oct 6, 08:00

Lands on

Agenda · Español

The event has not started, so the language rule answers instead. 2 of 8 rules ran

The flow behind that answer. Steps the scan did not touch are dimmed. Drag to pan.

The scan

City comes from the IP address. Accuracy varies by area. The scan counter is approximate under load.

What the edge did

  1. Gates password, geofence, scan cap, expiry · checked before the flow
  2. 1 Date switch Tue, Oct 6, 08:00 Before
  3. 2 Language es-ES Español
  4. Destination Agenda · Español example.com/agenda/es

2 of 8 rules evaluated · the walk stops at the first destination

Scan result: Agenda · Español, after 2 of 8 rules. Path: Date switch Before, Language Español

8 rules · 5 credits each time one changes · a scan still costs 1 credit

Nothing here is a mock-up. The destination above is worked out by the same code that answers a real scan.

Most platforms sell yesterday's QR. taproute ships a GS1 Digital Link resolver: serial-level routing, DPP linksets, and bulk serialization that runs to 100,000 units per batch.

Smart bio pages

One page,
a different face for every visitor.

Link-in-bio platforms sell everyone the same static list. A taproute page decides at the scan · the breakfast menu before noon, the App Store button on iPhones · no cookies, nothing tracked.

  • by country & city timezone
  • by day & hour, local to the scanner
  • by device: iPhone, Android, desktop
  • by the visitor's language

AI draft

Describe your business.
taproute drafts the page.

Watch it happen, then type your own: the briefs below are real, and so are the pages they produced · typed blocks on our renderer, never raw HTML. You edit everything before anything goes live.

A demonstration and a working prompt box: example briefs type themselves in and a finished landing page assembles section by section in a phone preview · each page is a real draft generated from its brief. Type your own brief and submit it to start drafting your page.

The Anti-Trap Pledge

Every clause exists because
someone else does the opposite.

01

A code that is still being scanned keeps your account alive

Free codes expire after a 14-day trial, discovered after the menus are printed.

We measure the printed object, not your login, so a code in active use keeps itself alive whether or not you ever sign in. Worst case it pauses until you top up.

02

No interstitial ads. Ever.

Ads on every free redirect, some appearing weeks after the code was created.

Scan → destination. We put nothing in the path, on every account, forever.

03

No subscription, no auto-renewal

Forced annual billing and renewal traps you find on your card statement.

Prepaid credits only. There is nothing to renew, so we can never surprise-charge you.

04

You buy codes once. They rent them to you.

Code tiers billed again every month: pay for 50 when you need 8, for as long as you keep them.

A code costs 1 credit the moment you create it, then never again. No tiers, nothing recurs.

05

No silent expiry

Unused balance silently vanishes at the end of a billing cycle: no warning, no recourse.

Credits are valid 18 months. We warn you 30 days ahead, and any top-up rolls your entire balance forward.

Unit economics

Same workload.
A fraction of the bill.

Want your own branded domain? At the incumbents that puts a small business on a $168–420/yr tier ($294/yr on average), billed every year whether anyone scans or not. On taproute the same branded year (100,000 scans and a custom domain included) is one $149 Growth pack, bought once. Half their average in year one, and nothing at all billed in year two.

Pricing that matches usage

1 credit = 1 scan · static codes: no credits, unmetered · API & MCP on every pack · full pricing & rate card →

API and MCP included

A REST API and a native MCP server, on every account.

Same credits, no developer tier. Create codes in batches from a CI job, send scan events to your webhook, or give an assistant scoped access over MCP. Every credential carries its own scope, hourly rate limit and optional daily credit budget, so a runaway script hits its own ceiling before it reaches your balance.

Questions, answered

What happens when my balance hits zero?

On a paid account a grace period kicks in: your codes keep redirecting while we warn you. Worst case they pause; nothing is deleted and everything resumes the moment you top up. (The 30-credit trial has no grace window; codes pause when it runs out.) Codes are only ever removed with the account itself, and only after six months of no sign-ins, no scans and no unexpired credits · four emails and a one-click cancel before it happens.

Do credits expire?

Purchased credits are valid for 18 months, and any new purchase, even the $15 pack, rolls your entire balance forward another 18 months. We email you 30 days before anything expires. Nothing ever vanishes silently. The 30 credits we give you at signup are a 7-day trial, not a free tier.

What is GS1 Digital Link and why does it matter?

It is the successor to the retail barcode: by GS1 Sunrise 2027, registers worldwide read 2D codes. taproute ships a conformant resolver, so one code on your packaging serves the product page, Digital Product Passport, certifications and per-unit serials. Most QR platforms do not have this.

How much does a custom domain cost?

Every pack can hold one, because a domain is a matter of credits here, not of tier. You point a subdomain you already own (qr.yourbrand.com) at us with a single CNAME record, and we run the SSL and routing. We do not sell you the domain and we do not charge a white-label fee. Elsewhere the same CNAME-plus-certificate mechanism sits behind a $168–420/yr plan, billed for as long as you keep it. One domain is included free with every pack from Growth ($149) up, and Scale and Volume include two. On any other pack, or beyond your free allowance, a domain is a one-time 40,000-credit slot, up to your pack’s cap · the full table is on the pricing page. You buy it once and keep it for as long as your account is alive.

Is there an API?

Yes: a REST API plus a native MCP server on every account, at no extra charge. Same credits, no separate plan, no developer tier to upgrade to.

What about static QR codes?

They cost nothing and are not metered. They are made in your browser and the image never leaves it · only the link you encode is checked against our acceptable use policy. Dynamic codes are what consume credits when scanned.

How fast are redirects?

Scans are redirected at the edge, in the datacenter closest to the person scanning, typically 10–40ms anywhere in the world.
